NMDA Youth Meet & Greet

On February 27 NMDA held a Youth Meet & Greet at Vista Sandia Equestrian Park in Albuquerque, NM. There were 9 Youths, lots of family members and volunteers in attendance. The weather was beautiful and everyone had lots of fun.

After introductions the kids participated in dressage themed exercises and games. There was an Obstacle Course (performed both in-hand and mounted), a Walking Race, Musical Letters (like musical chairs but on horseback & dressage themed), Simon Says (using dressage commands of course) and a Walking Relay Race (including a 10 meter circle at B & E).

Later, tired horses were put up and everyone enjoyed pizza and a discussion about ideas for youth events for NMDA's 2016 year.

Five of the youth present volunteered to serve on the Youth Events Activity Committee. NMDA looks forward to having a Youth Program driven by its younger members in 2016!

Many thanks to the volunteers and family members who helped set up/take down the arena and assisted with the exercises!
